Vincent's Ducati

A while back Vincent, the guy I built the Virago and the CX500 chopper with, bought a Ducati Cagiva Pantah 650. He sold his Yamaha R1 for it and that was a wise decission. The Ducatis isn't even finished yet, but I'm pretty sure he's already done more miles on it, than on the R1 in 3 seasons....

Although the bike is not finished yet, it is taking shape nicely. At this moment it has custom made exhaust pipes with modified mufflers, Emco air filters, air-supension at the back, a CX500 C gas tank, a seat made of a CX500 C gas tank, Tomasselli clipons, home made headlight and license plate brackets, after market headlight, Honda speedo and a seat made by the same guy (Raymond) that did the seat on my CB750.

Vincent took the Ducati for a test ride yesterday, while I tried to fine tune the Virago

As I said, it's work in progress. Heat shields on the exhausts are on his to-do list (though it's not a big problem)

And the engine needs some tuning (it's running a bit lean).

All in all the bike is great fun and is nearly ready for the summer season.

We also did a short video, time was running out a bit and I filmed it from the Virago which was a surprisingly hard platform for filming (it's way easier on my BMW or the CB). The engine noise you hear is 100% the noise produced by the Virago, shame, cause the Duc sounds great too!

Bikes at the Vehikel swap meet (March 2012)

I needed to get the BMW up to temperature to set the timing (see the previous blog post). At the moment the Vehikel swap meet is going on only a few minutes from my house (see my report from the Vehikel swap meet last December: Vehikel). I don't really need any parts and the entrance is quite expensive, so I just went there to have a look at the bikes parked outside.

Conditions were far from ideal, so the photo's aren't that great, but some of the bikes were really interesting:

High on the wish list

Nope, not going to sell the BMW and not going to sell the CB, so this will remain day dreaming: Photo's like this one really make me want to build a scrambler.

Foto's Caferacerdag Achterveld 2011

The Achterveld caferacerdag (day) was today. The weather was great (some coulds, not too warm) and he turn up was fantastic. Hundreds of great bikes. Plenty of interesting bikes to see and plenty of interestig people to talk to. All in all: Another very succesvol caferacer event in Achterveld. Thanks Ton Up Club!!

I mad a lot of photo's and I don't have much time right now. I'll upload a few and the others will follow in the coming days.

For the Dutch:
Staat je motor op de foto en wil je de foto zonder logo hebben, stuur me dan een mailtje dan krijg je die!
Mocht je interesse hebben in een (gratis!) fotoshoot van je motor, stuur dan ook even een mailtje.

so.....

What I've been up to lately? Riding. Took the CB everywhere. And I mean everywhere, even got a good taste of offroading (which the CB is not very well suited for (massive understatement). Loving it. Spend many, many, many hours riding the CB.

I know I haven't been posting very much lately. Mainly cause I'm a bit fed up with the caferacer scene. The negativity has increased massively lately. I got negative responses to the CB being feautured on BikeExif (mails with: why your bike and not mine? How much did you pay? GTFOH). People moaning about other peoples bike cause they have stock suspension, so they can't be ANY fun to ride (get a life. Oh, and whe I say something about it: Going trough this blog for 1:15 hours to find something negative to say about it is pathetic. Yes, someone actually did that. What he found? My BMW has the stock top triple tree plate and apparently that means it sucks). People and businesses stealing photo's without asking (it's fine if you ask, but don't ask and put YOUR logo on my photo's is LAME). Oh, and also a special thanks to the guy who saw this photo:

and thought she looked like this guy:

Get glasses and come out of the closet please.

In the mean time: Check out Desmo Meister. He's building a great looking Ducati.

Vincent bought a Ducati/Cagiva. Can't wait to see what he'll turn it in to! You can follow the build on his blog:
